Summering in Seattle

Seattle seems like a long time ago now, a busy September and an even busier Michaelmas Term, have whisked it away to being a distant memory preserved in photographs and the LEGO Space Needle above my desk. In fact I'm quite grateful I started this blog, if only for my own benefit, as a journal of my experiences. I had to write up my trip as a requirement for the various sources of funding I received (Thank you Durham fund, Ferris Travel fund and Royal Pathological Society) but that was quite a stale, and altogether scientific, report. And in a way I guess this blog also served as another report - to my parents - hopefully it in someway compensated for their generous support. Anyhow I was recently flicking through some of the aforementioned photographs on my computer and realised that there were quite a few great (or even just pretty) photos which had never been published; mostly because they just didn't quite fit into a simple story or post. So this post's for them, so they see the light of day and don't forever languish in the dark recesses of my hard drive.

OK so here it is, the inevitable post full of pictures of the most over photographed College in Cambridge. Some 35,000 tourists visit King's each year - more than ten times more than the next most harassed toured College. Observational studies have revealed that the Japanese have utterly no comprehension of phrases such as "Private" "Members only" or "Please keep off the grass" even when rendered in their native tongue on signage. One quickly becomes immune to casually strolling through the photo's of those who feel it is acceptable to block the bridge/path/gate (delete as appropriate) - in fact it is quite satisfying to imagine one's blurred visage adorning holiday albums across the globe. Anyhow I digress, enjoy a few of my own (tourist free) snaps of King's from this term...
